Built on the site of an 8th-century convent, Villa Angela is a captivating mix between a British manor house and a traditional Florentine villa. It’s a charming property, enclosed by a towering medieval wall - strategically redesigned by Michelangelo in 1530 - that stretches down to the majestic Porta di San Miniato.
The medieval wall that encloses the property on one side, together with the surrounding fences, offer Villa Angela a unique and extraordinary sense of privacy and tranquillity that is rarely found so close to the heart of the city.
The garden is a hidden treasure of the Oltrarno, adorned with neoclassical and romantic-style statues and home to a wide variety of plants: rose bushes, camellias, irises, cyclamens, lavenders and evergreens.
Stepping inside, you’re greeted by a spacious foyer that leads to a substantial sitting room which boasts access to the garden, a cosy dining room, a fully equipped kitchen that also benefits from direct access to the garden, and a laundry room complete with both washing machine and dryer.
Adjacent to the entrance room is a staircase that leads to both a practical downstairs bathroom as well as the main bedrooms and bathrooms located on the first floor. Here there is a double bedroom and bathroom, alongside a corridor that leads to an additional bathroom, another queen bedroom, and the master bedroom, which has access to a sheltered terrace with steps that extend down into the garden. There is also another staircase to the third floor, where there is a charming double loft bedroom.
Villa Angela is more than just a home; it’s an enchantingly timeless experience.
The sophisticated colour scheme, elegant finishes and meticulous details reveal an innate elegance that is hard to recreate.
Every nook and cranny exudes refined beauty - from the gracefully hung Hermès scarves on the walls, to the velvet sofas designed by Giacomo Balla, to the antique Chinese wallpaper embellishing the walls of the dining room, all complemented by the numerous decorative porcelain pieces and fine Venetian glassworks.
Stunning private villa in the centre of Florence, offering unique space and tranquillity at just a stone’s throw from the city’s main attractions. With its three double rooms, one queen room and three bathrooms, Villa Angela can comfortably accommodate up to 8 guests. Nestled in the fascinating neighbourhood of San Niccolò, just a ten minute walk from the historic centre, this luxury property combines convenient proximity to the city with the peace and privacy guaranteed by its walls.
