By Taxi: 7,00 - 10,00 € (5-7 minutes)
On foot: Take the left exit from the platforms and turn right into Piazza dell'Unità then take Largo Alinari which then becomes Via Nazionale. As you walk down Via Nazionale, take the fourth turning on your right-hand side into Via Guelfa.
Number 34 (blue) is about 200 meters into the street, on the left. The number of the building is written in blue. It’s worth knowing that in Florence the colours of the numbers matter and while the red numbers are for shops the blue/black are for apartment buildings.
The GPS devices available are usually not up to date so follow these instructions to get to the Garage easily:
As you approach Florence by highway, coming either from Rome (south) or from Bologna (north), take the exit Firenze SUD and keep going straight into Via Marco Polo following the indication for Coverciano - Fiesole until you reach the traffic lights. Then take the left turning into Via Enrico de Nicola following the indications: Viali Circonvallazione-Centro.
Keep going straight ahead through Lungarno Aldo Moro - Lungarno Cristoforo Colombo - Lungarno del Tempio until the end and you will find a large hotel called "Mediterraneo" on your right and traffic lights where you have to turn right but keep to the left-hand side of the road as you take Via Giovanni Amendola.
Keep going straight ahead into Viale Antonio Gramsci, then through Piazza Donatello and Viale Giacomo Matteotti until you reach a big square with a park in the middle called Piazza della Libertà. As you circle the Piazza, turn right into Via Paolo Toscanelli and immediately take the first turning on your left into Via Lorenzo il Magnifico. Go straight on and take the second turning on your left into Via Agnolo Poliziano. After crossing a big road called Viale Spartaco Lavagni, turn left immediately into Via Santa Caterina d’Alessandria and take the second turning on your left into Via Ferdinando Bartolomei then turn right into Via San Zanobi. Take the second street to your left, which is Via Guelfa and take the first turning to your right into Via Sant’Orsola. You will find the Garage at the end of the street.
Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL)
Florence’s city center is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), which means that access to it is restricted, depending on the time of the day, day of the weak, season, etc.
The access to this area is marked with a traffic light:
Green Light = access is permitted
Red light = access is not permitted.
CCTV is installed, taking pictures of all vehicles that enter the ZTL and their plate numbers. Cars with a special permit to enter the zone, which only residents can get, are listed in the ZTL database. All other vehicles entering the ZTL when the light is red will get a fine.
In agreement with the local Police station, the fine will be cancelled if you reach one of the three parking spaces listed here within 3 hours of your access to the ZTL, upon which the staff at the parking will register your car in the system, instantly legalising your entrance into the ZTL.
